About This Machine

The Clown, manufactured by Zaccaria in July 1985, is a solid-state electronic pinball machine with a circus/carnival theme and artwork by Lorenzo Rimondini - notably the last Zaccaria game to feature his artwork. It runs on the Zaccaria Generation 2 hardware platform.

The machine's feature set includes two flippers, three pop bumpers, a 4-bank drop target, three single drop targets, a kick-out hole, and a spinning target. A hanging target moves back and forth across the center of the playfield, adding an extra layer of unpredictability, while bonus multipliers can climb as high as 80x for skilled players.

Clown's carnival theme and colorful design reflect Zaccaria's Italian pinball output during the mid-1980s, a period when the company continued to compete with American manufacturers through inventive playfield mechanisms like its moving hanging target.
