Challenger
About This Machine
The Challenger is an obscure and possibly unreleased two-player electro-mechanical pinball machine attributed to Bally Manufacturing Corporation as Model 1023. Bally's Numerical List of Machines shows a release-to-production date of June 4, 1974 for a "2 player - pin game," but no wiring part number is listed, and the model does not appear on game lists found in Bally parts catalogs — suggesting it may never have actually reached production.
Because of this uncertainty, little can be said with confidence about Challenger's gameplay, artwork, or theme. It should not be confused with Gottlieb's unrelated 1971 machine of the same name.
As a documented model number without confirmed production, Challenger stands as one of the more mysterious entries in Bally's history — a reminder that not every catalogued design made it to the factory floor.
