About This Machine

Bikini, designed by Don Hooker for Bally Manufacturing Corporation, is an electro-mechanical bingo machine with a confirmed production run of 850 units. Its lighthearted beach theme, taking in sailing, water, recreation, and bathing beauties, set a breezier tone than many coin-op themes of its day.

Play centers on shooting balls into a field of 25 trap holes to line up numbers on the backglass card. The machine offers Bally's Magic Screen feature along with the OK Feature and the Futurity Feature, and when the corresponding features are purchased through play, the player can press buttons to rearrange numbers on the backglass card before the fourth ball, before the fifth ball, or even after the fifth ball.

A notable operator-side detail: the game shipped with a set of three different machined cog wheels that could be installed to relax or tighten the odds, the steps between payouts, and the lit specials. Bright, colorful artwork evoking a carefree day at the beach rounds out one of the more charming entries in Bally's bingo line.
