All Stars
About This Machine
All Stars, manufactured by Williams Manufacturing Company and released in May 1947, is a single-player electro-mechanical baseball-themed pinball machine. It offered '3 outs for 5 cents' play and used a console-front cabinet with knob controls: players pushed a knob on the left front to pitch the ball and turned a knob on the right to swing the bat.
A key feature is its mechanical backbox animation, where miniature figures run the bases as the game progresses, adding a lively visual element to each play. Shortly after its May 1947 release, Williams recalled the machine after only a few weeks in the field to fix structural issues, with an improved version advertised by the end of that August.
All Stars' design and theme are typical of late-1940s sports-themed pinball, with a straightforward baseball motif. While specific information about its designer is unavailable, the machine's knob-operated pitch-and-bat mechanism and its documented recall make it a notable, if imperfect, entry in Williams' early baseball pinball lineup.
