Big Top
About This Machine
Big Top, manufactured by Wico Corporation in November 1977, is a solid-state electronic pinball machine built as a non-commercial home model with a circus/carnival theme. Its cabinet is smaller than a standard pinball machine, though it uses a standard-size ball, and artwork by Dick White decorates the backglass, playfield, and cabinet.
Gameplay is built around two flippers, one pop bumper, three targets, and a spinning target, providing several ways to score. Pressing a ball lift button on the front of the cabinet serves the next ball, and each game lasts three balls.
One distinctive construction detail is the plastic backglass, with the ink screened directly onto inflexible plastic rather than glass. Its colorful circus artwork has been noted as comparable to that of Bally's 1973 'Circus', and as a late-1970s home machine Big Top is an interesting curiosity for collectors.
