About This Machine

Yankee Baseball is an electro-mechanical (EM) pinball machine from April 1969, manufactured by Chicago Coin Machine Manufacturing Company (model 371). It is a two-player, baseball-themed "bat game," continuing a long tradition of baseball-themed pinball that predates it by decades.

The machine features seven hanging targets and two ramps, the ramps made of unpainted metal, giving players a more elaborate physical playfield than many of its contemporaries. These kinds of mechanical toys were a hallmark of late-1960s EM design as manufacturers looked for new ways to differentiate their sports titles.

Little further documentation survives about Yankee Baseball's specific rules, art, or reception, leaving much about the machine's history unknown. It remains an interesting, relatively obscure example of Chicago Coin's sports-themed EM output from the era.
