About This Machine

The Wizard, designed by Ed Krynski with artwork by Gordon Morison, is a 1971 electro-mechanical machine manufactured by D. Gottlieb & Company. It is the Italian export model of Gottlieb's 1971 'Magic Wizard,' produced in very small numbers, and features a Fantasy - Myth and Legend theme.

Gameplay is built around add-a-ball or 5-ball operation, adjustable by the operator, using two flippers, four pop bumpers, and eleven standup targets. Notably, the machine has no slingshots, a somewhat unusual omission for its era. Sound is provided by three chimes and a knocker, typical of Gottlieb's EM titles of the period.

As the rare Italian variant of Magic Wizard, The Wizard is a scarce piece for collectors interested in Gottlieb's international releases from the early 1970s, and its fantasy theme and Krynski's design place it among the company's imaginative EM output of that era.
