Wing Ding
About This Machine
Wing Ding, designed by Steve Kordek and manufactured by Williams in 1964, is a single-player, add-a-ball electro-mechanical machine with a water sports theme; 626 units were confirmed produced. Its replay counterpart is Williams' 1964 title 'Zig Zag.'
Gameplay on Wing Ding is characterized by two flippers, three pop bumpers, three kick-out holes, and dual outlanes. A mechanical backbox animation adds balls to the display when certain targets are hit, and the cabinet uses a reverse wedge head, giving it a distinctive appearance compared to many contemporaries.
The water sports theme is reflected in the game's artwork, though little further documentation exists about the machine beyond its technical specifications. Its combination of backbox animation and add-a-ball play makes it an interesting piece of mid-1960s Williams history.
