A-Go-Go
About This Machine
A-Go-Go, designed by Norm Clark and manufactured by Williams in 1966, is a significant addition to the world of electromechanical pinball. It was the first machine ever to use a captive ball spinner, a device invented by Clark himself and located below the flippers. The game also has a distinctive scoring layout: it is one of only three 4-player Williams games to place the second player's score in the lower left corner of the backglass and the third player's in the upper right.
A-Go-Go boasts an impressive array of features, including four flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, four standup targets, and a kick-out hole, housed in a drop-down cabinet. Pressing the left flipper button activates the far left flipper and both center flippers, while the right button activates the far right flipper and both center flippers — an arrangement that adds an extra layer of strategy for players. During the 5,100-unit production run, the coin door was changed from a large single-slot to a smaller multiple-slot design and the drop-down cabinet was eliminated, reportedly to meet high demand in Germany.
The machine's theme, 'Happiness - Dancing', is reflected in Jerry Kelley's vibrant artwork, which transports players to a lively mid-1960s dance scene. Its unique features and innovative captive ball spinner make A-Go-Go an exciting addition to any pinball collection or exhibition.
