About This Machine

TX-Sector is a space-themed pinball machine released by Premier Technology (under the Gottlieb trade name) in March 1988. Designed by John Trudeau with artwork by Constantino and Jeanine Mitchell and software by John Buras, it runs on the Gottlieb System 80B platform, with 2,336 confirmed units produced.

The machine features three flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, three ramps, three kick targets, two 4-bank drop targets, two spinning targets, a kick-out hole, and a rollover drop target at the base of a ramp. Its Double Multiball mode sends multiple balls around the playfield at once, and the plunger shoots the ball over an aerial habitrail to just above the upper-left flipper for a distinctive launch.

The translite combines hand-drawing and photography to create its futuristic space-sector visuals. TX-Sector is also notable for its "Vitrigraph" laminated playfield process, used only on this game along with Premier's 'Diamond Lady' and 'Victory' before the process was discontinued during production, which explains the color variations seen across surviving units.
