About This Machine

The 2 in 1, designed by Ted Zale and manufactured by Bally in July 1964, is a two-player electro-mechanical pinball machine, one of 1,060 confirmed units produced. As its name suggests, the machine could be configured for either 3-ball or 5-ball play, letting operators adjust the game length to suit their location.

Gameplay features two flippers, three pop bumpers, five mushroom bumpers, three slingshots, and two rollover buttons, giving players a busy playfield with plenty of scoring opportunities. The maximum displayed score is 1,999 points per player, with a replay wheel maxing out at 25 and sound provided by two bells and a knocker.

Little information survives about the machine's specific theme or artwork. Some European examples of the 2 in 1 are known to be missing their factory-installed bells, a documented quirk shared with other Bally EM exports of the era.
