Twins
About This Machine
The E. E. Junior Manufacturing Company's Twins, released in February 1932, is an early example of a Pure Mechanical (PM) pinball machine, predating the electro-mechanical and flipper eras entirely. As a single-player, purely mechanical game, it relied on gravity, pins, and simple scoring mechanisms rather than any powered or player-controlled flipper components.
Gameplay on the Twins would have been simple by design: players launched a ball onto an inclined playfield studded with pins and pockets, with score determined by where the ball came to rest, typical of pin games from this very early period of the hobby's history.
Little is known about the Twins' specific design, art, or theme. This lack of surviving documentation is common for machines from the earliest years of coin-operated pinball, and it makes the Twins an intriguing subject for collectors and historians researching the pre-flipper era.
