Twinky
About This Machine
Twinky, manufactured by Chicago Coin Machine Manufacturing Company in July 1967, is a two-player electro-mechanical machine with artwork by Christian Marche, built around a modeling/television theme. The name likely nods to Twiggy (Lesley Hornby), the British fashion model who became "the face of 1966," and the backglass depicts a TV studio complete with a peacock motif referencing NBC's network symbol, adopted in 1956.
Gameplay features a classic EM mix: two flippers, three pop bumpers, two kick-out holes, two rollunders, and two slingshots. These mechanics were staples of EM machines of the period, arranged here in a compact cabinet measuring 52 inches long and 22 inches wide.
While little else is documented about Twinky's design process, its pop-culture nod to Twiggy and mid-1960s television imagery make it a distinctive piece of Chicago Coin's late-1960s output.
