About This Machine

Triple Play, manufactured by United Manufacturing Company in August 1955, is a baseball-themed bingo-style pinball machine - in industry parlance a "bingo" is a wager-style pinball game rather than a flipper game, and the machine has no flippers. Gameplay instead centers on shooting balls into 25 trap holes to light up combinations across three cards.

Players are rewarded through the "Lite-A-Name" feature and can select a lit number before shooting their 4th or 5th ball via a rotating knob on the coin door, tied to purchasable "selection features" displayed on the backglass. All three cards score individually, giving players multiple simultaneous ways to score.

The backglass is adorned with baseball-themed artwork, and the playfield on early production games (such as serial number 1001) featured a yellow-colored batting/running area, later changed to salmon pink on subsequent runs. As one of the relatively few baseball-themed pinballs of the era, Triple Play is a distinctive example of 1950s bingo-machine design.
