Travel Time
About This Machine
Travel Time was designed by Norm Clark, with art by Christian Marche, and manufactured by Williams Electronics beginning September 5, 1972. It's a single-player electro-mechanical machine with a beach and travel theme, with 3,450 confirmed units produced. Travel Time is a replay/extended-play (timed) version of Williams' 1972 title 'Summer Time,' sharing much of that game's design.
Gameplay features two flippers, three pop bumpers, ten standup targets, a kick-out hole, and a ball kicker between the flippers, notably with no slingshots. The length of play is governed by a playfield clock, with selected targets adding extra time - high scores award either replays or extra time, at the operator's option.
With its sun-and-surf beach theme and clock-based timed-play mechanic, Travel Time stands as a solid, well-produced example of early-1970s Williams EM design, distinguished mainly by its shared lineage with Summer Time.
