Transporter the Rescue
About This Machine
Transporter the Rescue was released by Midway Manufacturing (under the Bally trade name, a subsidiary of WMS Industries) on June 5, 1989. Designed by Greg Kmiec and Tony Kraemer, with concept and art by Tim Elliott, it's a four-player solid-state game built on the Williams System 11B platform, with an outer-space theme and roughly 859 units produced.
Gameplay centers on three flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, a pair of 3-bank drop targets, a standup target, a spinning target, and a ramp. The left ramp accesses a space ship toy to lock balls for multiball, and a distinctive transporter spinner bowl - reached via a shot across the ramp from the third flipper - lets the ball spin before falling. The game supports 3-ball multiball and features speech, with music and sound by Jon Hey and Robin Seaver.
With its space-rescue theme and toy-driven ramp and spinner-bowl shots, Transporter the Rescue represents a fairly typical late-1980s Bally/Williams System 11 title, produced in a modest run of under a thousand units.
