Touchdown
About This Machine
Touchdown, designed by John Trudeau with art by Larry Day, was released in October 1984 by Premier Technology under the Gottlieb trade name. Notably, it was the first pinball machine produced entirely at the new Premier facility, though according to Trudeau it was originally developed while the company was still operating as Mylstar.
The machine runs on the Gottlieb System 80A hardware and features two flippers, four pop bumpers, two slingshots, nine standup targets, two kicking targets, two kick-out holes, and two spinning targets. The kicking targets tie into the football theme, giving players a shot at football-inspired scoring opportunities alongside the standard target and bumper play.
With 711 units confirmed produced, Touchdown was a modest-run title for Gottlieb during the mid-1980s. Detailed information on the specific artwork themes and reception of the machine is limited, but it remains an interesting example of Gottlieb's sports-themed output from the period, and a piece of trivia for being Premier's first in-house-built machine.
