Totalizer
About This Machine
The Totalizer, manufactured by Daval Manufacturing Co. in January 1937, is a single-player electro-mechanical pinball machine from a company that operated for only five years, 1934 to 1939. Little is documented about its designer, theme, or specific playfield features.
As with other pinball machines from the mid-1930s, Totalizer predates the invention of the flipper by roughly a decade, so gameplay would have relied on tilting, plunging, and passive scoring elements such as bumpers and holes rather than any flipper-based shot-making.
Given the scarcity of surviving records about the Totalizer's design and appearance, and Daval's brief operating history, the machine stands today as a minor but genuine artifact of pinball's early electro-mechanical era.
