TNT
About This Machine
TNT, manufactured by Rock-ola Manufacturing Corporation in August 1935, is a flipperless, single-player electro-mechanical machine with a military/warfare theme.
The gameplay on TNT centers on 10 balls for a nickel and a "Forward Advance" mechanism: landing a ball in the top hole returns the ball to the player and advances any trapped balls in each of two vertical hole sequences to higher-scoring holes. The game also features 20 trap holes, 3 kickers, and a free-play hole. Measuring 36" long and 16" wide, with a backboard that slopes from 8" in front to 12" in back, the cabinet includes an internal bell and a nickel coin chute.
As a flipperless, pre-war EM game, TNT reflects the era's mechanically inventive but flipper-free design approach. Surviving examples are often missing their backboard marquees, adding to the machine's rarity as a piece of mid-1930s pinball history.
