Time Zone
About This Machine
Time Zone, designed by Jim Patla with artwork by Christian Marche, is a 2-player electro-mechanical machine manufactured by Bally in May 1973, with 2,500 confirmed units produced. Its outer space and time-travel theme is built around a distinctive centerpiece: a 3D "Tunnel" toy in the lower playfield with flashing lights that scores via targets and rollovers.
The game offers two flippers, four pop bumpers, two slingshots, five standup targets, two kick-out holes, a left kicker lane, and upper and lower gates, plus an up-post between the flippers. The maximum displayed score is 99,990 points per player, and the replay wheel tops out at 25. Sound is provided by three chimes and a knocker.
A 4-player version of the same game was released the prior year as Bally's 'Space Time.' Time Zone's blend of a striking centerpiece toy and solid EM shot-making make it a well-regarded machine from Bally's early-1970s catalog.
