About This Machine

Three Score, designed by Harry Mabs with artwork by Roy Parker, was manufactured by Gottlieb in August 1940. It is a flipperless electro-mechanical pinball machine, predating the 1947 introduction of the flipper by several years.

The game offers 5 balls for 5 cents and features an unusually large array of 18 scoring bumpers, along with a time clock mechanism. Notably, it has no sound effects.

Three Score's minimalist, functional design and reliance on skillful bumper scoring rather than flipper control reflect the gameplay conventions typical of pinball machines from the years just before the flipper era began.
