About This Machine
The Three Musketeers, designed by Harry Mabs and manufactured by Gottlieb in July 1949, is an electro-mechanical pinball machine themed around Alexandre Dumas's classic adventure novel (and its many film adaptations, including a popular 1948 Hollywood version).
Gameplay features two flippers, two pop bumpers, six passive bumpers, a kick-out hole, and left and right dual outlanes, along with two bells for sound effects. Coming just two years after the 1947 introduction of the flipper, it reflects Gottlieb's rapid adoption of the new mechanism.
Gottlieb produced 800 confirmed units of the Three Musketeers, with artwork by Roy Parker bringing the adventure theme to the playfield.
