"300"
About This Machine
Gottlieb's 1975 "300" is a bowling-themed electro-mechanical pinball machine, designed by Ed Krynski with artwork by Gordon Morison. It is a 4-player game; a 2-player version was released the same year as Gottlieb's 'Top Score.'
Players will find two flippers, two pop bumpers, two slingshots, four standup targets, two kick-out holes, a spinning target, a star rollover, and two parallel lanes of serial rollovers (nicknamed the "Tantalizing Pin Ball Lane" in Gottlieb's promotional flyer). A mechanical backbox animation adds bowling balls as play progresses, complementing the end-of-ball bonus feature.
Gottlieb produced 8,157 confirmed units of "300," making it one of the more widely produced games of its era. Its bowling theme and mechanical animation reflect Gottlieb's continued investment in electromechanical designs even as the industry approached the transition to solid-state technology in the years that followed.
