The 30's
About This Machine
The 30, manufactured by Playmatic of Barcelona, Spain in 1977, is an electromechanical (EM) pinball machine with an American History theme incorporating card and gambling motifs.
Gameplay on The 30 features two flippers, three pop bumpers, two mushroom bumpers, and five kick-out holes. A mechanical backbox animation, in the form of slot machine reels, creates an immersive experience reminiscent of classic casino games. The end-of-ball bonus adds an extra layer of strategy to gameplay, as players must carefully manage their points and timing to maximize their score.
The machine's mechanical backbox animation, where slot machine reels turn as part of the gameplay, showcases Playmatic's attention to detail in creating visually engaging machines. A 4-player version of this game was released the same year as Playmatic's 'Speakeasy.'
