Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
About This Machine
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pinball machine, produced by Data East Pinball in May 1991, is a four-player solid-state game designed by Joe Kaminkow and Ed Cebula, with artwork by Kevin O'Connor and Paul Faris. It brings the popular cartoon franchise to the playfield with vibrant, character-driven artwork.
The machine features two flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, a spinning disc, and standup target banks of three (x2) and six, giving players a varied mix of shots across the layout. Fred Young provided voice characterizations for the game, while Neil Falconer handled sound and speech and Rehman Merchant wrote the software.
The artwork features the four turtle brothers -- Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael -- along with their nemesis Shredder, rendered in bold, vibrant colors that capture the spirit of the cartoon series. As a licensed tie-in to one of the most popular franchises of its era, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles machine remains a recognizable entry in Data East's early-1990s pinball lineup.
