Team One
About This Machine
Team One, released by Gottlieb in February 1977, was designed by Jeff Brenner (Gottlieb had previously credited the design solely to Ed Krynski, until Brenner confirmed he designed the game in its entirety) with artwork by Gordon Morison. It's a single-player, wedge-head electro-mechanical game with a soccer/futbol theme, playable as add-a-ball or novelty play at the operator's discretion, and only 666 units were produced.
Its playfield features two flippers, two pop bumpers, two 5-bank drop-target banks, two dip targets, a standup target, and dual inlanes, giving players a compact but varied shot layout. Team One shares its design lineage with other Gottlieb titles of the mid-1970s: the same playfield with different artwork became the 1975 replay game Abra Ca Dabra, an add-a-ball export version for Italy called Kicker, and its cabinet art (in a different color) also appeared on Gottlieb's 1975 Super Soccer.
The vibrant stadium-scene cabinet art captures the excitement of the sport, and with a confirmed production run of just 666 units, Team One remains a scarce find for collectors interested in Gottlieb's 1970s soccer-themed machines.
