Take Five
About This Machine
Take Five, manufactured by Allied Leisure Industries in 1978, is a solid-state electronic pinball machine from the Florida-based company, notable for its cocktail-table format. This recreation-themed machine was designed by Jack Pearson and Bob Betor, with art by Roland Berrios, and shares its playfield and electronics with Fascination's 1977 'Roy Clark "The" Entertainer,' albeit with different artwork.
One of the standout features of Take Five is its asymmetrical layout: the right-side slingshot sits in the standard location next to the right flipper, while the smaller left-side slingshot is placed higher on the playfield, next to the letter "T" in the game's name. The placement of flippers, pop bumpers, drop targets, and standup targets creates an engaging dynamic that challenges players to think about shot selection, and the operator option to choose between 3 or 5 ball play added replayability characteristic of many games from this era.
The cabinet design is also noteworthy, with its Formica-covered exterior measuring 38 inches long, 28 inches wide, and 26 inches high, and an operator option for either add-a-ball or free-play operation. Take Five stands as one of Allied Leisure Industries' solid-state cocktail-table offerings from the late 1970s.
