Swords of Fury
About This Machine
Swords of Fury, created by Williams Electronics Games in 1988, is a solid-state pinball machine from the late-1980s era of Williams' System 11B games. Concept and art were by Doug Watson, with the game designed by Steve Kirk and Tony Kraemer.
The machine boasts a range of features, including four flippers, two slingshots, seven stand-up targets, and three spinning targets. The inclusion of horseshoe lanes and a diverter ramp adds to the complexity, while a mini-playfield and 3-ball multiball create an engaging experience for players. A notable aspect of Swords of Fury is its rule set, which introduces progressive difficulty as the drop targets on the upper mini-playfield reset more slowly each time they are knocked down.
Design-wise, Swords of Fury's fantasy theme transports players to a medieval world of wizards and knights, with artwork by Doug Watson and music and sound by Brian Schmidt. Swords of Fury offers a glimpse into the design and gameplay conventions that defined late-1980s Williams pinball.
