Swing Time
About This Machine
Swing Time, designed by Steve Kordek and manufactured by Williams Electronic Manufacturing Corporation in May 1963, is a single-player, add-a-ball electro-mechanical machine with a dancing and happiness theme, housed in a reverse wedge-head cabinet. Only 700 units were confirmed produced, priced at $322.50 to distributors, making it a relatively scarce Williams title from the early 1960s.
Gameplay includes two flippers, three pop bumpers, two passive bumpers, two slingshots, three rollover buttons, and a kick-out hole, with a maximum displayed score of 9,999 points. By 1963, flippers had been a standard part of pinball for over a decade, so Swing Time should be understood as a mature example of flipper-era design from veteran designer Steve Kordek rather than an early or pioneering use of the mechanism.
With its cheerful dance-themed artwork and comparatively low production run, Swing Time remains a lesser-known but well-documented entry in Williams' 1960s add-a-ball lineup.
