Super World Series
About This Machine
The Super World Series pinball machine is an example of early electro-mechanical (EM) design from Williams Manufacturing Company. Built in 1951, it is a baseball-themed 'bat game' with mechanical backbox animation, in which players bat the ball to score.
Super World Series holds design patent D-161562 for a 'baseball game table or the like,' filed July 21, 1950 and granted January 2, 1951 to Harry E. Williams, highlighting the mechanical ingenuity behind its baseball simulation. The exact difference between this game and Williams' later 'Deluxe World Series' (1952) is not fully documented.
As a single-player EM bat game from the early 1950s, Super World Series offers a glimpse into an earlier style of baseball-themed pinball before the widespread adoption of flippers, and remains of interest to collectors and historians of the era.
