Super Score
About This Machine
The Super Score, manufactured by Chicago Coin Machine Manufacturing Company in 1946, is a piece of electro-mechanical (EM) pinball history predating the company's first flipper game, 'Bermuda' (1947). Operators of this flipperless era would soon retrofit games like Super Score with flippers, often placed in unusual spots on the playfield.
Gameplay on the Super Score is characterized by its use of passive bumpers and kick-out holes. Players get five balls for just 5 cents, taking advantage of the machine's simple yet challenging, flipperless gameplay mechanics.
The Super Score's design and art are typical of early EM machines, featuring a straightforward, industrial aesthetic that reflects its mechanical construction. No specific theme or designer is attributed to this model. With 3,000 confirmed units produced, it offers collectors a look at pinball just before the flipper era began.
