About This Machine

Street Fighter II, released by Premier Technology (under the Gottlieb name) in March 1993, is a solid-state pinball adaptation of Capcom's hit fighting video game, designed by Ray Tanzer, Mike Vettros, Bill Parker, and Jon Norris.

The gameplay is where this machine stands out. Players get five flippers, including one positioned below the playfield and one that rotates a full 360 degrees -- an unusual feature, with an earlier example found on Stern's 1979 'Hot Hand'. A three-level playfield and two ramps, each with an elevating entrance granting access to a target underneath, add depth to shot-making, and the game supports both 2-ball and 3-ball multiball.

The design and art, credited to David Moore, Constantino Mitchell, and Jeanine Mitchell, are faithful to the source material, featuring characters like Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li, along with a smashable car toy in the lower playfield. With 5,550 confirmed units produced, it remains a well-remembered example of video-game-licensed pinball from the early 1990s.
