Straight Shooter
About This Machine
Straight Shooter, manufactured by D. Gottlieb & Company in 1959, is an example of the Western-themed electro-mechanical (EM) pinball machines popular in that era. Designed by Wayne Neyens with art by Roy Parker, it features a blend of gameplay mechanics typical of Gottlieb's EM designs of the period.
The machine boasts four flippers, two pop bumpers, two passive bumpers, two slingshots, and three standup targets, along with a 3-sided roll-under feature that adds an extra layer of challenge. The maximum displayed point score is 7,990,000 points. Straight Shooter's design and art evoke a classic Western aesthetic, with cowboy-themed artwork and colorful graphics, and the backglass carries Gottlieb's famous slogan: "Amusement Pinballs, as American as Baseball and Hot Dogs!"
With 1,150 units confirmed produced, Straight Shooter is a relatively scarce machine today, offering a glimpse into the early days of Gottlieb's EM design and play.
