Star Pool
About This Machine
Star Pool, designed by Steve Kordek with art by Christian Marche, is a four-player electro-mechanical pinball machine manufactured by Williams Electronics beginning in December 1974, with a sports/billiards theme. Its playfield layout is closely related to two earlier Williams billiards-themed titles, Star Action and Triple Action, both released in 1973.
The machine features two flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, five rollover buttons, four drop targets, two mini-rollover buttons, spinning posts, and a right outlane ball-return gate, along with an end-of-ball bonus and a choice of 3- or 5-ball play. Its replay wheel maxes out at 37, and it signals play with three chimes and a knocker.
With 6,950 confirmed units produced between December 1974 and March 1975 — split roughly between the US/Canada and export markets — Star Pool was a solidly popular release in Williams' billiards-themed lineage, reflecting the company's continued reuse and refinement of a successful playfield concept across several titles in the early-to-mid 1970s.
