About This Machine

Snooks, manufactured by Williams in June 1951, is an electro-mechanical (EM) pinball machine credited to designer Gordon Horlick (the manufacturer's original playfield drawing, dated 5/9/51, is signed with his initials GTH; earlier records had credited Sam Stern).

The machine's two flippers, two pop bumpers, and three kick-out holes give it a fairly active playfield for its time. Its tilt system is notable: rather than ending play immediately, the tilt penalty is reset only when a ball passes through a roll-under wire at the bottom of the playfield below the flippers.

Little information is available about Snooks' design, art, or theme beyond its mechanical layout. Nonetheless, Snooks remains an interesting piece of early-1950s Williams output, credited to designer Gordon Horlick and artist George Molentin.
