About This Machine

Showtime, manufactured by Chicago Coin Machine Manufacturing Company and dated April 1974, is a 4-player electro-mechanical (EM) pinball machine designed by Albin Peters and Wendell McAdams, with artwork by Christian Marche. Its "Aquatic Fun - Happiness" theme places it among Chicago Coin's lighthearted EM releases of the mid-1970s, a period when the industry was beginning its broader transition toward solid-state technology.

Showtime's gameplay includes two flippers, two slingshots, two pop bumpers, seven rollover buttons, and three captive balls. Pocketing all three captive balls awards an extra ball, and the game includes an end-of-ball bonus. It has a maximum displayed score of 99,990 points per player, and its sound package consists of three chimes and a knocker. A two-player version of this game was also released as Chicago Coin's 1974 'Dolphin.'

Designed by Peters and McAdams with art by Marche, Showtime remains a solid example of Chicago Coin's EM output in the years leading up to the industry's shift toward solid-state pinball.
