Seven Up
About This Machine
The Seven Up, designed by Steve Kordek and manufactured by Williams Electronics in 1969, is a well-featured example of electro-mechanical (EM) pinball design near the end of the EM era. Its snow skiing theme is brought to life with backglass light animation showing skiers descending a slope, and the game proved popular, with 1,351 confirmed units produced.
Seven Up features four flippers, four pop bumpers, two slingshots, six stand-up targets, and a single drop target, providing players with a challenging and engaging experience. The machine's scoring system rewards strategic play: hitting targets 1 through 6 scores 300 points and raises the drop target so it can then be scored. Each outlane features a mini-post for added challenge.
Seven Up was released alongside a nearly identical Add-A-Ball counterpart, Williams' 'Set Up', from the same year. While little additional information has been uncovered about the machine's artwork or design team, its combination of engaging gameplay features and skiing theme makes it a fascinating piece in any pinball enthusiast's collection, offering a glimpse into a pivotal moment near the twilight of electromechanical pinball.
