About This Machine

The Royal Flush, designed by Ed Krynski and released in 1976 by Gottlieb, is a four-player electro-mechanical (EM) pinball machine from the mid-1970s, an era when Gottlieb's EM lineup was nearing the end of its run before the industry-wide shift to solid-state electronics.

A standout feature of this machine is its 9-bank drop target, which gives players a challenging goal to complete for points. Slingshots on either side keep the ball in play, while three standup targets, three dip targets, and a kick-out hole round out the layout. The machine's end-of-ball bonus feature rewards players for their performance in a single game, and the maximum displayed score is 99,990 points per player.

The Royal Flush's card-themed decorations fit its Cards/Gambling theme. A two-player version of this machine was also released as Gottlieb's Card Whiz, and the game was later remade in 1983 as the solid-state Royal Flush Deluxe.
