Ro Go
About This Machine
The Ro Go, designed by Greg Kmiec and manufactured by Bally in 1974, is a notable electro-mechanical (EM) pinball machine blending Nordic fantasy themes with engaging mechanics. The game features two flippers, two pop bumpers, and one mushroom bumper, providing players with a range of challenging objectives to pursue.
The Ro Go's layout is characterized by an inverted backbox design, featuring a wider wood trim framing at the bottom than at the top. This distinctive design element gives the machine a visually striking appearance. Other notable features include slingshots, kick-out holes, standup targets, and a horseshoe lane, offering multiple paths for the ball to follow and keeping gameplay fresh.
An interesting quirk of Ro Go's production run: the earliest games off the line used blue as the primary color on the backglass, playfield, and cabinet, before Bally switched to green for the remainder of the run - reportedly only about eighty of these "early production" blue units were made. With a maximum displayable point score of 199,990 points per player and a replay wheel allowing up to 25 replays, the Ro Go offered significant replay value for its era.
