Red Baron
About This Machine
The Red Baron pinball machine, produced by Chicago Coin Machine Manufacturing Company in June 1975, was designed by Jerry Koci, Albin Peters, and Wendell McAdams, with artwork by Lloyd Rognan. As one of Chicago Coin's later electromechanical releases before the company ceased production in 1977, it reflects the combat-adventure theming popular in EM pinball of the mid-1970s.
The machine's key features include two flippers, two pop bumpers, two slingshots, two spinning targets, two drop targets, and a kick-out hole, along with an end-of-ball bonus. Its maximum displayed score per player is 199,990 points.
A four-player version of the same game, with different artwork, was released as Chicago Coin's 'Blue Max'. Red Baron's aerial combat theme, brought to life through Lloyd Rognan's artwork, remains a distinctive entry in Chicago Coin's mid-1970s lineup.
