Pot 'O' Gold
About This Machine
The Williams "Pot" pinball machine, designed by Steve Kordek with art by Jerry Kelley, was manufactured in June 1965. It is a two-player electro-mechanical game notable for its mechanical backbox animation.
The "Pot" features two flippers, four pop bumpers, two slingshots, six standup targets, and two rollunders. A bagatelle-style feature in the backbox and an illuminated backglass marquee add visual flair, while an adjustable double match award (granting 2 or 5 replays) gives operators flexibility. The cabinet uses a drop-down design.
Steve Kordek was one of the most prolific and influential designers in pinball history, and while he did not invent the flipper itself, his decades of work helped define standard pinball layout conventions still used today. With a confirmed production run of 1,800 units, the "Pot" is a solid mid-1960s example of Williams' output, offering enthusiasts a glimpse into the electro-mechanical era just before solid-state technology took over the industry.
