Pot Shot
About This Machine
Pot Shot, manufactured by J. H. Keeney and Company of Chicago, Illinois, in January 1939, is a one-ball electro-mechanical payout machine, playable for 5 cents.
The game came in three distinct models: a 1-ball, 4-coin multiple-play payout version in a console-type cabinet; a 1-ball, 3-coin multiple-play free-game version, also in a console-type cabinet; and a 1-ball, single-coin free-game version in a standard table-type cabinet. This flexibility let operators tailor the machine to local payout regulations and player preferences.
As with many one-ball payout machines of the late 1930s, specific details of Pot Shot's playfield layout and scoring targets are not well documented. Little information has been uncovered about the machine's designer or its intended market, leaving much to be discovered by enthusiasts and historians researching Keeney's early output.
