Post Time
About This Machine
Post Time, designed by Norm Clark and manufactured by Williams Electronics in April 1969, is an electro-mechanical add-a-ball game with a horse-racing theme, continuing pinball's long tradition of sports-themed titles. Art for the machine was done by Christian Marche.
Gameplay-wise, Post Time features an innovative flipper-like gate under the apron that controls ball routing in different modes. In five-ball mode and add-a-ball mode, the gate directs the ball to the outhole for delivery to the shooter lane. In extended-play mode, the gate instead activates a kicker, propelling the ball upward through the flippers and back into play. The machine also features seven standup targets, five pop bumpers, and four slingshots, with a bell and wooden box chime for sound.
With a confirmed production run of 2,002 units, Post Time is a solid example of Williams' late-1960s EM output, and its replay counterpart is Williams' 1969 'Paddock.' Its mechanical ingenuity, particularly the dual-purpose ball-routing gate, makes it a fascinating addition to any pinball collection.
