Party
About This Machine
The 1979 Playmatic "Party" pinball machine is a Solid State Electronic-era title from the Spanish manufacturer Playmatic, based in Barcelona, Spain, which operated from 1968 to 1987. Notably, Playmatic also produced an earlier, unrelated single-player EM game also called "Party," with different art but the same art theme and a different playfield layout.
The "Party" machine boasts an array of features typical of late-1970s pinball design, including two flippers, two pop bumpers, and multiple drop and standup targets. The game's layout is characterized by dual inlanes with open elbows, allowing the ball to transition from the inlane to the outlane. A spinning target and kick-out hole add an extra layer of challenge and excitement to gameplay. One notable aspect of this machine is its lack of a specific stated theme, which was not uncommon for pinball games of the time. Reportedly, the ROMs used for this version of "Party" are shared with Playmatic's 1978 games Big Town and Last Lap.
While detailed information on the game's designer is scarce, the "Party" machine remains an example of late-1970s Solid State Electronic pinball design from a manufacturer whose machines are less widely documented than those of its American contemporaries, making it of particular interest to collectors and enthusiasts seeking out lesser-known European titles.
