About This Machine

Monte Carlo, produced by Genco Manufacturing Company in February 1932, was the second pinball machine Genco ever produced, arriving in the earliest days of the coin-operated pinball industry. As a Pure Mechanical (PM) machine, it has no electrical components at all — predating even the lights or scoring mechanisms that would come to define later machines.

This small table-top/counter game measures just 19 inches long by 11 1/2 inches wide, with an all-metal cabinet and playfield construction. It offered five balls for a single cent, a pricing structure typical of the format's earliest incarnations as an inexpensive counter-top novelty rather than a standalone cabinet game.

Details about Monte Carlo's specific playfield layout and scoring targets have not survived in the historical record, but its status as one of Genco's first two products makes it a foundational piece in the history of a manufacturer that would go on to produce pinball machines for over two decades.
