Mibs
About This Machine
Mibs, designed by Ed Krynski and manufactured by Gottlieb in 1969, is a single-player electro-mechanical (EM) machine with a playing-marbles theme ("mibs" being an American term for marbles) and a wedge-head cabinet.
From a gameplay perspective, Mibs offers two flippers, four pop bumpers, two slingshots, three standup targets, and a stationary post below the flippers. A mechanical backbox animation, in which marbles are added, adds a distinctive visual feature. The machine shares its playfield layout with Gottlieb's 1962 'Rack-A-Ball' and 1964 'Bowling Queen'. Mibs features a maximum displayed score of 9,999 points and a replay wheel with a maximum of 15.
With art by Art Stenholm and a production run of 2,200 units, Mibs is a solid, if lightly documented, example of Ed Krynski's late-1960s design work for Gottlieb.
