About This Machine

The Metro, designed by Steve Kordek and manufactured by Williams in 1961, is a two-player electro-mechanical (EM) machine with a "City Living" theme, bringing an urban setting to the playfield.

The Metro's unique features set it apart from other pinballs of its time. Among its three pop bumpers is a Disappearing Bumper that lowers into the playfield during play, becoming a level playfield surface when down — a clever design touch. Its four passive bumpers, two slingshots, and two kick-out holes round out the layout, while the double match feature awards 2, 5, or 10 replays (operator adjustable), enhancing the game's replay value.

Designed by Steve Kordek with art by George Molentin, the Metro was produced in a limited run of 700 units, making it a comparatively scarce piece of Williams' early-1960s EM lineup.
