Master Stroke
About This Machine
Master Stroke was manufactured in 1977 by Recel S.A. of Madrid, Spain, the export brand of a company that also released a domestic version under the Petaco name. This single-player, billiards-themed electro-mechanical machine has a wedge-head cabinet and a distinctive layout in which the ball, once launched, must cross the playfield to reach the top.
Key gameplay features include two flippers, two pop bumpers, two slingshots, a 5-bank of three drop targets, a standup target, and right-side dual inlanes that add an extra layer of challenge to shot-making.
The artwork on Master Stroke reflects its billiards theme with sporting graphics typical of Spanish EM pinball of the era. Little is documented about the machine's specific designer, but as a product of Recel/Petaco's export and domestic pinball operations, it offers an interesting look at the Spanish pinball industry of the late 1970s.
