About This Machine

The 1973 Playmatic Magic is a Spanish-made electromechanical pinball machine from Playmatic of Barcelona, built around a fantasy/magic theme. It's a single-player game offering 3 or 5 ball play.

The playfield includes two flippers, three pop bumpers, a slingshot, four standup targets, two hinged targets, a kick-out hole, and a free ball return lane, giving players a compact but varied EM ruleset typical of Playmatic's output during this period.

At least one surviving example has cabinet art that differs from the manufacturer's original flyer — reportedly an all-formica cabinet except for painted areas on top of the backbox and its pedestal, though the reason for this variation isn't documented. Little else is known about the machine's designer or specific inspirations, but Magic remains a distinctive piece of early-1970s Spanish pinball manufacturing.
