Lucky Draw
About This Machine
Lucky Draw, manufactured by Mirco Games of Phoenix, Arizona in June 1978, is a four-player solid-state cocktail table pinball with a cards-and-gambling theme. Its MPU board is built around an Intel P8035 microprocessor with game code stored in three 2708 EPROMs, and the electronics were notably modern for the format: a self-test feature confirms display, lamp, and coil function, DIP switches handle configuration, and the game uses a matrix not only for lamps and switches but for coils as well. A Cash Box article of the period stated it was the first Mirco game with electrical and mechanical parts interchangeable with parts from Williams Electronics' games.
The playfield offers two flippers, two pop bumpers, a slingshot, five standup targets, a spinning target, and right triple inlanes, with 3- or 5-ball play. The rules follow the card theme: ten lights the spinner, two Jacks award double bonus, three Queens award triple bonus, four Kings light extra ball, the Ace lights the left pop bumper (with bumpers alternating as targets are hit), and a Royal Flush lights the special. Operators could configure the game for either add-a-ball or free play (replay) operation. Sound comes from electro-mechanical-style chimes with adjustable volume.
The cocktail cabinet measures 38 inches long, 28 inches wide, and 26 inches high, and the triple-coated polyurethane playfield was reportedly specially produced in Europe. One documented quirk, confirmed via PinMame emulation: if the player holds the flipper buttons during the bonus countdown, both flippers flip with each chime.
